LinkedIn Group and habits of the professional public historian

This semester we’ll be looking more closely at expectations for your professional life as public historians–the internships you may get, the tasks of “entry level” public historians, your engagement with professional networks and associations, and positioning yourselves for the job market. Your participation in this blog and the discussions here are meant to help you form the habits of a professionally aware and engaged practitioner.

To that end, we now have a UNC-Greensboro History/Museum Studies Program LinkedIn group. In this group, you can connect with graduates of this program, and through them take in the larger networks and professional expectations of museum folk. As you have already figured out, the connections you make here at UNC-G will be of immense value to you as you go forward.

So–you need to create a basic LinkedIn profile and join the group. This won’t take much–you can create a profile and add a c.v. in less than fifteen minutes. I think it will be worth your time.
