I saw this article pop up on Facebook a few times today, and I tried to ignore it. Frankly because some opinion pieces online are iffy at best, and my Facebook friends aren’t always reliable sources.
With that said this piece raises an important question, what do we do about having museums like this telling half-truths?
I’m wondering what their mission statement is and how they are handling the reviews already. Being that this site is set to be the go-to for African American history, how are they deciding what side to tell? A national site would be the place to open dialogue, but at the same time its public position might prevent the harsh past to be fully embraced.
