Preserving the Present for the Past

I found this article to be interesting because it highlights the importance of both the past and present. The oral histories allow people to connect with history of the past. It also, helps people to realize how important their current actions are. Archiving these stories and making them more accessible to the public is important to every part of history. I love that this is a proactive project as well. Getting the oral histories now, and properly archiving them for future historians and researchers is awesome!

While it was a coincidence, it could not have happened at a more perfect time. The LGBTQ community is still often excluded from the narrative. By prioritizing their stories, especially right now, this is a great way to begin including them in the narrative. Furthermore, it makes them a part of the state’s and the nation’s history as opposed to being a “separate” history.
